We are global leaders in flood risk management, looking for a data-focused and commercially minded colleague to join our Client Development team. The role could suit someone from a technical or data background looking to develop commercially, or someone with business development experience who is comfortable working with technical data.

Salary £40,000-£60,000 per annum. Starting salary will be determined based on skills and relevant experience.

You will be joining an award-winning environmental and engineering consultancy which puts innovation, sustainability and resilience at the heart of its work.

We are independent and staff-owned under a stewardship model which drives long term decision making and investment. We have offices in the UK, Ireland, Romania, India, Singapore and Australia. Our people are all important and we invest heavily in life-long learning and skills development.

Your role

As a Business Development Manager, you will focus on developing new business opportunities with both new and existing clients. Working closely with client account managers and technical colleagues, you will understand client requirements and shape solutions using JBA’s catastrophe models, flood hazard data and related services across the re/insurance, financial and property sectors.

A key part of the role will be translating technical data and product information into clear, practical solutions for clients. You will lead or support client meetings, product demonstrations and proposals, respond to new business enquiries, and contribute to pricing, contract drafting and commercial negotiations.

Day to day, you will work with colleagues across the business to identify opportunities, understand how JBA’s data and services can meet client needs, and help progress opportunities from initial conversations through to agreement. You will take an appropriate level of ownership for opportunities, depending on your experience, with scope to develop your responsibilities and commercial skills over time.

The team member we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who is curious, commercially minded and comfortable working with technical information. The role is particularly suited to someone moving into Client Development from a technical or data-focused background, or someone with business development experience who wants to develop further. You should enjoy working collaboratively with clients and colleagues and be keen to develop your commercial and client-facing skills. Training and support will be provided to build your JBA product, market and commercial knowledge.

• Ability to understand client requirements and shape appropriate data and service solutions.
• Commercially minded, with an interest in identifying and developing new business opportunities.
• Good numeracy, written communication and presentation skills.
• Collaborative, organised and adaptable, with good attention to detail.
• Comfortable contributing to proposals, pricing, licensing and contract drafting, with support available depending on experience.
